CHILDHOOD MATTERS Dedicated to helping people understand and manage children's behaviors
Welcome to CHILDHOOD MATTERS, a unique child development and behavior consulting service dedicated to helping parents, teachers, and staff members of camps and extra-curricular activities for children. We accomplish this by creating a deeper understanding of children's development and behaviors, as well as by providing progressive, positive and creative skills and strategies that are uniquely designed just for you. We are, in essence, coaches for anyone spending time with children. Our service benefits parents, "nannies", teachers and facilities which hire staff to work with children, such as camps and extra-curricular programming. None of our methods include punishment of any kind, and all of our strategies are designed to get the best and most desirable behaviors from children.
Allowing us to help you will give you the following benefits:
-
A better understanding of children's development
-
A better understanding of children's behaviors
-
Effective and positive ways to discipline that do not involve any forms of punishment (that's right, not even so much as a "time-out")
-
Tools and strategies for helping children to become experts at self-regulating their own behaviors (in other words they learn to control their own behavior as opposed to the adults doing the "controlling")
-
Parenting and behavior-management strategies and solutions that actually create happier and better-behaved children, which in turn makes parenting/caregiving/teaching easier
OUR MISSION... Our mission is to:
1) Ensure an emotionally secure environment in which children feel nurtured, loved, valued, understood and respected by the people caring for them, and
2) Empower caregivers, parents or staff/teachers to consistently apply the tools and strategies they have learned from us into their everyday interactions and relationships with the children in their care
OUR PHILOSOPHY...
The parenting and teaching of children is not only an artform, but a profession like any other. The only difference is that parenting children is the most important and difficult profession there is. In any company or corporation, there exists professional development and staff-training for its employees. Why should the people who have the most influence on children's lives not be entitled to the same professional development? Learning to parent and manage children in the most positive of ways is a learned skill to be mastered like any other. We provide this "professional development for parents" (and others working with children) in order to make available what every parent needs at some point in their parenting career -- tips, strategies, tools, and creative solutions to parenting issues and dilemmas.
