RESPONSIVE CAREGIVING: UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In this session, participants will expand on the concept of social-emotional development in children by learning about its stages from birth up to four years of age.  We will examine what an emotionally healthy child looks like, the emotional strengths of children, and how this understanding of social and emotional development translates into better caregiving.  This workshop puts a strong emphasis on the caregiver's role in supporting this social and emotional development from infancy onwards, and tools are provided to help caregivers achieve this supporting and nurturing role.  A discussion of appropriate and inappropriate practices will be conducted, along with role-playing activities that will help caregivers explore various methods of dealing with children.
