RESPONSIVE CAREGIVING: UNDERSTANDING TEMPERAMENT

In this session, participants will explore the concept of  "responsive caregiving".  Members will learn how this type of care impacts their relationships with children, as well as the children's social-emotional development.  The three temperaments and their nine traits will be presented, so as to increase awareness of how to appropriately respond to each child's unique blend of temperament characteristics.  Participants will learn to identify and appropriately respond to the various temperaments of  either their own children or the children they work with, and will discuss the challenges inherent in working with different personality types.  Learning how to be "in tune" with children is the main focus of this workshop.
