WELCOMING CHILDREN TO A NEW SETTING
This workshop is unique in that it is ideal for facilities such as camps, preschools, and any extra-curricular programs that will be beginning a new session or year. The purpose of this workshop is to fully prepare staff for the new upcoming session without any observations having to take place beforehand. This ensures that newly acquired knowledge and skills can be applied immediately beginning the first day the children arrive, eliminating the delay between the start of your session, the period of observations, and then the workshops. Participants will focus on the following topics: initial greetings and welcoming children; making connections and maintaining bonds with children from the first day; encouraging and maintaining open communication with parents; dealing with separation anxiety; disciplining without punishment; conflict resolution between peers; reading cues and respecting individual temperaments and personalities; helping children integrate well into the setting and make friendships; and creating an emotionally safe and fun environment.
